Q & A
Q: What's the attire?
A: We're pretty flexible. Current trends range from Casual Friday to Sunday Best. However, no birthday suits, even if it is your big day!
Q: How can I pay?
A: Here at Jackson's, we accept major credit cards and cash. We also accept that sometimes you leave your wallet home. In cases such as these, we have lots of dirty dishes.
Q: Can I bring my kids?
A: We do not allow: smoking, pets, bare feet. We do allow children, however they will be held responsible for all badly behaving parents.
Q: What's the deal with reservations?
A: Generally, Jackson's accepts reservations for 7 or more guests. However, we are unable to accept any reservations during our prime time, which is Friday and Saturday from 6 to 9 pm.
If you're a single gal or 15 people, give us a call before you leave the house to get your name on the list (if there is one, that is). When its real busy, we won't seat you unless your entire party is here, so don't invite late people.

We go here often and the food is usually delicious. There have been misses here and there, but for the most part, if you want decent, casual American cuisine...can't go wrong here

Was visiting my folks in Comack who suggested we eat here for lunch. As a bar-and-grill type place with a vast menu, I can see why this would be a popular local place. I work in the IT Dept for an ecommerce site, CleanItSupply, that sells janitorial and restaurant supplies. I always check out a restaurant's paper products in the bathrooms and any janitorial items that are visiable. I noted that Jackson's needed some new heavy duty mop buckets. The one I glimpse was an older model and looked as if it was due for an upgrade. I decided to mention Jackson's to my boss when I returned to PA and suggest that a salesperson reach out to the restaurant. THe meal with my parents was satisfying. This neighborhood grill with its laid-back ambience puts a creative twist on American fare. NOTE: jump ahead to 2018 and Jackson's is still around. My parents and I still have lunch there whenever I am in town. A reliable place to still get a tasty meal.

Decent style BBQ/Steak style fare, food is fairly pedestrian and simple but not bad by any means. Salads are nice, anything grilled here is typically done well. Portions are large and plated normally. As far as the atmosphere it's pretty nice inside for this type of a location, interesting lighting decor, some brick walls and lots of wood tones. Not a bad spot for a steak or burger if you should be in the area.

Been there for lunch, dinner, weekdays and weekends. Each time was a little different but almost all was great to good. It is dark in there I will tell you. So during the day I felt it was a little bit of a downer but night it is casual but intimate.

This place has become a neighborhood staple for me. Every time I go, I always have a great experience - food is always great, service friendly and drinks made well. I've also taken a bunch of friends/family here and the consensus is usually the same - good american food in a nicer atmosphere w/ pretty good prices. Greatest thing is that if you're on a budget, they have a great 3 course prix-fixe menu for all of $24.95.

This is a wonderful spot especially for the price. It is exactly as advertised, upscale bbq.The flavors and dishes are what you would expect. Ribs are very soft and have a nice tangy taste. Mac & cheese is stellar and suggest those. They have sweet potato fries so right there its worth a try. I have always found the service to be good, and the atmosphere is very nice. Good for any occasion, and for any group. Go enjoy and you will definitely get full.

I came here to check out the sliders immediately after reading Joan Reminick's silly Newsday article on the recent menu trend of mini-burgers on LI (newsday.com/features/pri…). Where I come from, Slyders are spelled with a "Y" and have a (TM) next to it. Regardless, the burgers here weren't bad; ("Roadside Sliders" two mini-burgers and potato-stix fries . . . $6.50). However, Jackson's is a restaurant/ bar-and-grill type place with a vast menu, not a storefront burger joint, as Reminick's article suggests. (The sliders are an appetizer and pretty much the cheapest thing on the menu). This place used to be called the Blue Oyster Grille (no umlauts) and retains the same ownership, (also own Red Fish in Plainview) but aims at being more trendy. Atmosphere-wise, nothing new or special, HDTVs and satellite-fed tunes. . . The bar has a blue-hued, unappetizing blacklight under it, highlighting your phosphors, so wear clean pants if you bring a girl or plan to meet one. . . A cutie-pie/ androidish barmaid, top-shelf liquors displayed, Samuel Adams Winter (in the new Sam Adams glasses, meant to enhance your sensory experience) and Blue Moon drafts, happy hour and late-night specials ($2.50 drinks and $5 apps). They had a offer for LI Restaurant Week, which runs through this Sunday.
